Founded in the 1830s, historical downtown Opelika has a Railroad that goes from Montgomery, Alabama to West Point, Georgia. This led to its popularity and made it a hub of commerce.
Tiger Town is the largest retail center in Opelika It is located at the intersection of highway 280 and interstate 85. Some stores include Target, Hobby Lobby, and Kroger. There are also health care facilities, hotels, restaurants, and banks. Tiger Town is a huge asset to the area where you can always find what you’re looking for.
A great place to explore and find unique treasures in Angel’s Antiques. Angel’s has over 68,000 square feet of shopping space. With over 450 vendors, Angel’s is a fun place to explore furniture, seasonal items, and vintage household items.
Downtown Opelika has several breweries and bars, perfect for a night out. Some of our favorites are the Red Clay Brewing Company, named after the iconic red clay of the south, and Whistle Stop Bottle and Brew. Red Clay Brewing Company offers several beers on tap and serves pizza. Whistle Stop Bottle and Brew is a homebrew/winemaking supply store and bottle shop with over 19 craft beers.
There are endless opportunities for great food in Opelika. One of our favorites is Niffer’s Place. Since 1991, Niffer’s has been producing some of the best hand-pattied burgers in town. They have two locations in Lee County, one in downtown Opelika and its original location in Auburn.
